Knowledge is power
We did some dumb and downright dangerous things as kids and we're still here. We might also point out that we're really smart and doing pretty well for ourselves, despite having done said dumb and downright dangerous things as kids.
So why is this generation of parents constantly slathering their spawn with hand sanitizer and acting like their tykes are made of glass? They're not only breeding Purell-resistant bacteria, but they're depriving their children of learning experiences and dooming them to a lifetime of ignorance.
This book is the solution to the current parenting plague. Get it for your kids, but grab an extra copy for that parent you know. (You know which one we mean.) THINK OF THE CHILDREN! The children are our future, and they need to learn that Supergluing their fingers together isn't the end of the world - in fact, it's fun and educational. In fact, did you know that in a few hours, your finger will come unglued from your thumb? So go on: lick a 9-volt battery, boil water in a paper cup, squish pennies on a railroad track, and go dumpster diving.
You and your geekling will learn more real life skills from this book than they ever will in science class! There are many "dangerous" things that are interesting, eye-opening, enlightening or just plain fun! And while there are aspects of danger in virtually everything we do, the trick is to learn how mastery actually minimizes danger.
