Flattered Melo may yet join Arsenal.

Fiorentina midfielder Felipe Melo says he is flattered by reports linking him with a move to Arsenal this summer. The 25-year-old Brazilian international has made 29 league appearances for the Serie A club since arriving from Spanish side Almeria a year ago.

And he is set to face South Africa in the Confederations Cup semi-finals this week, having already netted for the Samba Boys against the United States earlier in the competition.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is believed to be a keen admirer of the middle-man, who has been capped eight times by his country, with the Frenchman eager to add some steel to his midfield ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

However, Melo insists he is going nowhere during the close-season, despite admitting his delight at the supposed interest being shown in his services.

"Obviously it is a good thing that great clubs are interested, as it shows that I worked well," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"But as I said, I have a good relationship with Fiorentina, with the directors and the fans."
However, Arsenal's hopes of landing the fiery midfielder may not be completely forlorn, after Italian journalist Gabriele Marcotti revealed Melo could yet be heading to North London this summer.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Marcotti claimed a deal for Melo could be on the cards following the conclusion of the Confederations Cup in South Africa.

He added that Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos - who has been on loan at AC Milan - is believed to be a target of Fiorentina.
