It's Stained Glass Time!: Tokyoflash's Latest

It's been awhile since Tokyoflash dropped a time-telling bomb on us, and frankly, I've been missing it.Introducing the $168 Kisai 'Broke'.

A striking fragmented display, full face mineral crystal lens and a new way to read time that's almost like a regular clock, features that will make you want to break away from dictated fashion trends.

Broke is the first watch in the Kisai series to be USB rechargeable, ensuring enhanced brightness and long lasting battery life.

Reading the time couldn't be easier. Touch the button and a shattering animation will light up the display. The outer ring of blocks represent hours in the same position as hours on a clock face. The inner ring of blocks represents five minute intervals in the same position as minutes on a clock face. Four single minutes are shown in the center.

Granted 'Broke' probably isn't the best name for a product, but I can look past that because my eyes have trouble focusing anyways. And I'm not just saying that because you should show me your breasts so I can tell you what they look like in 4-D, but you should. For science. Wait -- let me grab my lab-camera.

If A 4-Wheeler Banged A Jetski: The Quadski.

The quadski is the lovechild of a jetski that humped a 4-wheeler despite Poseidon warning the watercraft that it would upset the balance of the oceans and the moon would probably come crashing down to earth.

The Quadski ($TBA) is exactly that: a four wheel amphibious vehicle that tears it up on land and sea, with a top speed of 50 mph on either surface.

We've All Been There: LEGO Piece Rage

This gets me back, When me & Izyan tried to make water ways using LEGO pieces. When it leakes, we got carried away by super gluing them. Finding the pieces seems to be a hassle. It happened to me most days.

Sometimes I even pretended I didn't really need the piece, thinking that it would magically appear.

It never worked.

Dedicated to my cousin Izyan...good old LEGO days..

Oldschool Flair: A Modern Penny-Farthing

I didn't even know these things were called penny-farthings. I thought they were called those goofy-ass looking bicycles with one monster-giant wheel and one little bitch one. Of course, that's understandable given my natural Shakespearean tendencies and way with worlds. Words AND worlds. You think I couldn't Death Star a planet if I wanted to? I could do that shit. Anyway, now you can buy a modern version of the late 1800's classic (great tie-in, GW).

The front wheel is a whopping 36 inches, while the rear wheel comes in at a slightly more reasonable 12 inches, giving you that classic elevated position associated with this most barmy of bikes.

Of course, we'd be barmy to send you off pedalling into the sunset with the safety features of a vintage Penny Farthing (otherwise your newly bought oversized hat might end up squished under an articulated lorry), so this new version has all the modern safety standards you'd expect. The frame is made of durable steel, the pedals are anti-slip, there's a brake on the rear wheel and the saddle has spring suspension to make your ride a little smoother.

The instant coolness is available now for £499.00 (~$770), but unfortunately they only ship to mainland UK. Plus they don't come with top-hats OR monocles.

Tokyoflash Concept Brings Tweets To The Palm Of Your Hand

The Tokyoflash Instant Trend concept can pull tweets and Facebook updates from your phone via Bluetooth connection. What time is it? Who cares.

If you like the design you can go to Tokyoflash to vote for it, and, if enough people do, they'll actually manufacture the thing sans child labor.

Which is a lot more than I can say for my line of sundials. Did I mention I'm selling really awesome sundials? Yeah they're fair trade and organic and all that jazz.

EPL: Arsenal 0-0 Manchester City

Arsenal's Premier League title chances were officially ended as Champions League hopefuls Manchester City claimed a 0-0 draw at The Emirates.

Much of the pre-match hype had surrounded the return of former Gunners striker Emmanuel Adebayor, but he was left on the bench by City boss Roberto Mancini - before being introduced to resounding jeers early in the second half.

Arsenal had the better of possession, yet they only tested Shay Given a couple of times before the City keeper went off with a suspected broken shoulder.

There were a few expected boos as Adebayor made his way to the visitors' dugout before kick-off, while by contrast his fellow former Gunners Kolo Toure and Patrick Vieira were both well received by the home supporters.

Arsenal threw away any hopes of getting back into the title race last weekend when they blew a 2-0 lead in the last 10 minutes to lose at Wigan, while big-spending City were looking to overtake Tottenham - who earlier lost at Manchester United - in the chase for that coveted final Champions League qualifying slot.

Robin van Persie has been sorely missed by the Gunners, and he captained the side on his home return following five months out with a knee injury.

The Dutchman almost made an instant impact when he burst into the City box before Toure came across to make a blocking tackle.

There was a brief stoppage when City defender Wayne Bridge - who made himself unavailable to watching England manager Fabio Capello for the World Cup in the wake of the John Terry saga - needed treatment for a thigh problem.

The full-back was, though, soon in the action again, sprinting down the left wing, only to be beaten to the ball by Theo Walcott - who will be doing his best to get on the plane to South Africa.

City were, however, forced into a change on 27 minutes, when Bridge was replaced by Micah Richards - himself just fit again following a four-match absence with a knee injury.

Samir Nasri was then flagged somewhat dubiously offside after latching onto van Persie's through-ball.

Arsenal continued to press, and Walcott skewed his first-time effort as the ball dropped at the edge of the City area.

Nasri's angled shot following a wonderful take down by van Persie brought the first meaningful save from Given.

At the other end, a crunching tackle from veteran Sol Campbell blocked Vieira as the former Gunners captain burst into the penalty area.

After a low-key opening to the second half, the introduction of Adebayor on 52 minutes was greeted by a cacophony of boos - despite manager Arsene Wenger having called for the former Togo striker to be shown the same respect as all old players. Vieira was clapped off, the home fans delivering a clear message to their one-time star man Adebayor, who left for City in a £25million summer move.

With the temperature raised, there was a flashpoint when Craig Bellamy and Song squared up, with referee Mike Dean calling the respective captains together in an attempt to restore calm to what had been a well-contested but not overly physical game.

Rosicky drilled a low shot from 18 yards straight at Given after a neat one-two with Nasri as Arsenal upped the pace again.

Adebayor capitalised on a slip from Silvestre to dart off down the left, but ran the ball out - much to the delight of the home fans.

City were having a much better spell, and continued to press Arsenal back.

Substitute Nicklas Bendtner flashed a low cross through the six-yard box, before Diaby created space to shoot from 25 yards.

Given tipped wide at full stretch but appeared to have damaged his shoulder and, after several minutes of treatment, was carried off on a stretcher taking in oxygen. Faroe Islands goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen replaced him for an unexpected debut.

Bellamy was booked for tripping Bendtner and Van Persie followed after a late sliding challenge on Adebayor as City broke quickly.

It was becoming a busy afternoon for Mr Dean, as Pablo Zabaleta was also shown a yellow card for stepping across Eboue and conceding a free-kick some 25 yards out. Van Persie chipped his effort over the wall, but just inches wide of the top right corner.

There were some eight minutes of stoppage time, during which neither side were able to find a winner.

The Arsenal Brunei Supporters Club (ABSC) kit sponsored by Smart & Superb Designers (SSD)

Friday, 23-04-2010

The Arsenal Brunei Supporters Club (ABSC) together with the Smart & Superb Designers (SSD) held a jersey handing over ceremony @ the tile area, Stadium Negara Hassanal Bolkiah.

The ABSC is taking part in the Aewon LSCB Futsal League which will commence on 25 April 2010 and ABSC will be sending its team to this tournament. The venue will be held at the JKR Futsal Court.

A very big two thumbs up & appreciation to SSD for the dedicated hardwork and sponsorship of the jerseys for this tournament. It meant a lot for those who are involve in this tournament, especially the players.

The jersey reminds me of the 2000-2002 Arsenal away kit, the one with the "SEGA" logo on it. It's smashing!.

I wish the players all the best and ready to give a 110% throughout the tournament & most important that we play as a team & have fun.

Fair play guys...GUNNERS4LIFE!

EPL: Wigan Athletics 3-2 Arsenal

Wigan scored three times in the final 11 minutes to end Arsenal's faint Premier League title hopes with a amazing 3-2 win at the DW Stadium.

The Gunners appeared to be coasting to victory on Sunday on the back of goals either side of half-time from Theo Walcott and Mikael Silvestre.

But after a run of eight defeats and a draw in the league against Arsenal, Wigan added to their maiden wins over Chelsea and Liverpool this season as Ben Watson, Titus Bramble and Charles N'Zogbia conjured an astonishing comeback.

The remarkable result leaves Wigan seven points clear of the drop zone and seemingly safe, whereas Arsenal can now kiss goodbye to any hope they had of the title after back-to-back defeats in the space of five days.

Tottenham's victory over leaders Chelsea on Saturday had given the visitors a glimmer of hope on the title front, but that has now evaporated, and they have only themselves to blame for a late collapse.

For 40 minutes here, they found themselves frustrated by a Wigan side desperate for points in their battle to stay in the top flight for a sixth successive season.

After being booed off the pitch on Wednesday following a goalless draw against an already-relegated and understrength Portsmouth side, Wigan were determined to restore the faith of their fans.

There was certainly an urgency about Roberto Martinez's side, but for 80 minutes they lacked a cutting edge.

Instead it was Arsenal who were in the ascendancy, initially in the 41st minute as Nicklas Bendtner split covering defenders Maynor Figueroa and Bramble with a through ball of pace and precision.

After riding Bramble's challenge and pulling away from Figueroa, Walcott then slid the ball underneath the advancing Chris Kirkland for his seventh goal of the season.

It was deserved as Walcott should have scored minutes prior to that after Abou Diaby had released him in behind Wigan's defence.

Although left with a one-on-one opportunity with Kirkland just outside the six-yard box, he opted to try and find Bendtner with a square ball, only to pull it behind him, allowing Wigan to clear.

Walcott could, and perhaps should have given Arsenal a two-goal cushion on the stroke of half time, only to narrowly clear the bar with a rising drive from just inside the area.

Prior to Walcott's opener Wigan were lively, but barely troubled Lukasz Fabianski, playing in his first league game since the end of last season with Manuel Almunia out with a wrist injury.

N'Zogbia, rumoured to be a target for Wenger in the summer, was narrowly wide with one curled effort, whilst a low, powerful 20-yard drive was straight at the Pole.

As a contest, it seemed to turn inside the opening three minutes of the second half, initially after just 40 seconds as Wigan were denied a penalty.

Referee Lee Mason, who had incurred the wrath of the Wigan fans all afternoon with his decisions, infuriated the locals further by turning a blind eye to Samir Nasri's pull on the arm of Watson.

Moments later, and from Arsenal's first attack of the half, Kirkland superbly denied Diaby at close range, with the ball eventually running for a corner.

Nasri proceeded to deliver an outswinger to which Wigan's defence were guilty of falling asleep, allowing Silvestre an unmarked header from the penalty spot beyond Kirkland's outstretched grasp.

Starting for Thomas Vermaelen, who misses the end to the season with a calf strain, it was Silvestre's first goal for a year since a 4-1 win on this ground.

Wigan, though, did not roll over and die.

N'Zogbia first curled a tame effort that was easy pickings for Fabianski, on his 25th birthday, after being played in by Watson.

Watson was then denied by Fabianski who was at full stretch to prevent a low 20-yard shot from creeping inside his right-hand post, whilst Hugo Rodallega saw his scuffed shot trickle inches wide.

Then 10 minutes from time Watson hauled Wigan back into the game with a sidefoot effort from 12 yards after substitute Victor Moses had played the midfielder in from the bye-line.

It was the catalyst for the comeback, aided by a howler from Fabianski who fluffed an N'Zogbia corner, allowing Bramble a free header which crossed the line, despite Clichy's efforts to hook the ball clear.

Then in the first of four minutes of added time N'Zogbia struck a sublime curling winner in off the post from 20 yards to send the majority of the DW Stadium into raptures, and leave Arsenal's followers sickened.

EPL: Tottenham Hotspurs 2-1 Arsenal

Arsenal's Premier League title hopes are all but over.

Arsène Wenger's side went down 2-1 to Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Wednesday evening and are now six points behind leaders Chelsea with only 12 available.

A thunderous volley from Danny Rose set the tone for the night after only 10 minutes. Despite pressing their hosts, Arsenal suffered another blow when Thomas Vermaelen hobbled off injured shortly afterwards.

Gareth Bale slotted home a second two minutes after the restart to give Tottenham breathing space. Arsenal kept forcing themselves forward but they only found a cutting edge when Robin Van Persie was introduced with 22 minutes left.

His free-kick force a fantastic save from Gomes, as did Sol Campbell's close-range header. Nicklas Bendtner forced home Theo Walcott's low cross to give Arsenal hope five minutes from the end. The visitors kept pressing until the end but time ran out.

This was Arsenal's first Premier League defeat to Tottenham since 1999. Any reverse to local rivals is painful but given the unbeaten run and the state of the title race, this will be very difficult to take.

As ever, the immediate reaction will be anger and frustration but, once that has subsided, you would hope fans will realise the strides the side have made this season.

The headline team news had been known for some time and, even though he only made the bench, it was great to see Van Persie back in an Arsenal shirt once again.

The other notable name, for the home fans at least, was Sol Campbell. He replaced Mikael Silvestre from the team beaten so badly at Barcelona eight days earlier while Emmanuel Eboue came in for Theo Walcott on the right side of midfield.

Of course, Tottenham's last defeat had been more recent and more surprising. Harry Redknapp made a number of changes to the side that lost that FA Cup Semi-Final to Portsmouth so late on Sunday.

The most eye-catching saw midfielder Rose came in for his Premier League debut and Ledley King return after a seven-week absence.

The atmosphere was everything you expected as the teams came out. But apart from the usual intense rivalry, both teams knew their competitive seasons were reliant on a win tonight.
Something had to give.

The opening butterflies had barely settled down when Arsenal nearly took the lead. In the second minute, Gareth Bale gave away a corner on the right. Campbell thundered in and deflected it goalward via his knee. The effort trickled past the outstretched hand of Heurelho Gomes but Benoit Assou-Ekotto knelt down to chest the ball back into the grateful arms of the keeper.

Campbell had already drawn the boos of the home crowd, as he would all game. A scuffled, stolen goal from their former captain would have cranked the intensity still further.

Arsenal were doing all the attacking. Samir Nasri had a shot blocked and then Eboue danced through only for the sliding Michael Dawson to smother a tentative shot from Tomas Rosicky.

But Spurs would respond. In the ninth minute, they worked the ball to Younes Kaboul on the right and Roman Pavlyuchenkco's near-post shot was deflected over the bar by Thomas Vermaelen.

Bale's corner was punched well clear by Almunia but it was met on the volley by Rose. His left-foot shot flew over the Arsenal defence and into the back of the net. It was a bolt from the blue in every sense.

Arsenal were rocked but they responded. Clichy crossed for Bendtner to grapple past his marker and nod wide.

However, in the 18th minute, they suffered another blow. Under no pressure in his own half, Vermaelen booted the ball out of play, went down on his knees and called for the physio. His game was over and Silvestre came on.

As the first half reached its midway point, Arsenal could be pleased with their approach play and may have convincingly argued that their setbacks were beyond their control. But with so little time to go in the season and so much at stake, they simply had recover.

They did exactly that. The visitors dominated the second quarter of the game. Spurs were penned back and struggled to get the ball. Arsenal had pressure and possession but could not quite cut through.

Their best effort came in the 34th minute when Campbell nodded the ball back into the path of Rosicky, whose drive nutmegged Dawson but was blocked by King.

Tottenham clawed their way back into game as the whistle approached. Rose test Almunia the near post then Modric burst through challenges from Clichy and the sprawling Almunia before Campbell cleared the danger.

Rose may have made the difference in the first half but he did not reappear after restart. David Bentley was his replacement.

Within two minutes, Tottenham had the second goal. Defoe was allowed to turn by the left-hand byline and his simple, straightforward cross-field ball found Bale at the far post. The unmarked Welsh midfielder, who had been played onside by Sagna on the right, gleefully slid home his shot between Almunia and the upright.

It was a horrible goal to concede and one that could haunt Arsenal's season. The visitors now needed three goals in 40 minutes to keep pace with Chelsea.

Not surprisingly Tottenham were now instilled with confidence.

Wenger's reply was to introduce Walcott for Sagna and push Eboue to right back. It made a difference.

Arsenal found the England international whenever they could but Tottenham stayed firm. And, of course, the home side knew Wenger's side had to attack them.

This was now cup football.

In the 65th minute, Walcott slid a pass down the right-hand channel and Bendtner fired a fierce shot across the face of goal.

A couple of minutes later Wenger introduce Van Persie for Denilson. It smacked of a gamble but the Arsenal manager had little choice.

Tottenham made a simultaneous substitution - Eidur Gudjohnsen for Defoe - and the Icelander might have ended the argument immediately but he miscued his shot from Assou-Ekotto's right wing cross.

Arsenal had all the urgency you could wish for but, to this point, Gomes had barely been called into serious action all night. The visitors had been passing and probing and probing and passing - but with little end result.

That changed with 11 minutes left. Diaby flicked a ball into the area, Van Persie chested it down and sent backward volley goalward. Gomes made a great reaction save.

Seconds later, Rosicky's deflected effort trickled wide. A heart-in-mouth moment for the home side.

Arsenal were on the offensive and Gomes now took centre stage. First he brilliantly tipped away a curling free-kick from Van Persie. Then he diverted Campbell's header onto his own bar. In keeping with Arsenal's night it bounced away to safety.

Arsenal were now desperate. They needed a goal. They got one.

In the 85th minute, Walcott found width on the right and cross low into the area for Bendtner to stab home. The Dane collected the ball and raced back to the centre circle, the visitors had the scent of a comeback.

Van Persie forced another full-length save from Gomes with a couple of minutes.

But it was too little too late for Arsenal. Tottenham had done a sterling job of keeping them at distance throughout the game.

They traversed the last few minutes with few real alarms.

This sweet remote-controlled, wall-mounted lightsaber light is able to change into seven different colors and can be adjusted via remote from bed. If you get scared, you can just look up and see that you're being protected by the Force, or the Jedis, or something like that.

The lightsabers are available for preorder now ($25), but won't ship till the 3rd quarter of the year. Which I think we can all agree is a long time to wait if you're worried about Sith touching your butt while you sleep. But what can you do? (I cut both cheeks off).

UEFA Champions League Flashback: Barcelona 1-1 Arsenal

Last time Arsenal played Barcelona at the Nou Camp the Gunners secured a 1-1 draw thanks to an 81st-minute equaliser from Kanu.

The match was a Group Stage encounter in September 1999 and Luis Enrique had put Barcelona ahead after 16 minutes.

And with just nine minutes remaining Arsenal's night got worse as Gilles Grimandi was dismissed for an elbow on Pep Guardiola.

But within a minute of the red card the Gunners were level. Davor Suker, on as a substitute in place of Dennis Bergkamp, unleashed an effort that was saved by Ruud Hesp. Kanu was first to the rebound and he fired the equaliser into the bottom corner.

Barcelona team: Hesp, Reiziger (Ronald de Boer 70 ) , Frank de Boer, Sergi, Bogarde, Guardiola, Luis Enrique (Litmanen 78 ) , Figo, Rivaldo, Dani, Cocu

UEFA Champions League Quarter Finals 2nd Leg: Barcelona 4-1 Arsenal

Lionel Messi scored all four goals as Barcelona moved into the Champions League semi-finals by beating Arsenal 4-1 to seal a 6-3 aggregate win.

The Argentinean magician inspired the defending champions to fight back from going a goal down early on in the quarter-final second leg to set up a meeting with Inter Milan in the last four.

Nicklas Bendtner had given Arsenal hope of pulling off a famous victory by opening the scoring, but the Gunners were in front for only two minutes before Messi lashed home the first of his three first-half goals.

Arsenal's misery was complete two minutes from time, when Messi capped a sublime performance with his fourth of the evening.

Xavi and Messi both failed to hit the target with early half-chances before the Gunners grabbed a shock lead in the 19th minute.

Theo Walcott was put clear by Abou Diaby down the right, and he dashed into the Barca penalty area before laying off a sloppy square pass to Nicklas Bendtner.

The Dane still managed to force Victor Valdes into a good reaction save, but Bendtner was quick to stab the rebound into the net and put Arsenal ahead in the tie for the first time.

The Gunners then wasted another chance of a breakaway, when Diaby pushed the ball left to Bendtner when Walcott was in acres of space on the right.

It proved a costly error as Barcelona went up the other end to equalise on 21 minutes.

Neither Mikael Silvestre nor Thomas Vermaelen could clear a ball on the edge of the penalty area and succeeded only in presenting possession to Messi, who unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top right corner.

Arsenal were again punished by Messi for some poor defending as Barcelona went 2-1 ahead on 37 minutes.

Eric Abidal crossed the ball low into the box from the left, which was cut out by Vermaelen. However, his team-mates were slow to react as Pedro knocked the loose ball out to Messi - and he steamed forward before lifting the ball over the on-rushing Almunia.

Messi then completed a stunning hat-trick four minutes before the break when he latched onto a flick from Abidal to race clear of the Gunners backline. The Argentina forward drew Almunia off his line before dispatching a brilliant chip over the Arsenal keeper.

Barcelona took their foot off the gas in the second half, possibly with Saturday's huge clash with Real Madrid in mind, but Messi and Pedro both came close to adding to their lead before Messi completed the rout in the 88th minute, slipping through Almunia's legs after the Gunners keeper had kept out the Argentine's initial effort.

Despite being well beaten, defeat was no disgrace for the Gunners, who can now focus on their Premier League title bid.

EPL: Arsenal 1-0 Wolverhampton

Arsenal substitute Nicklas Bendtner headed a stoppage-time winner as 10-man Wolves finally succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners - outplayed by Barcelona for large spells at home on Tuesday night - made seven changes to their starting XI as manager Arsene Wenger clearly had one eye on next week's Champions League quarter-final second leg at the Nou Camp.

However, despite dominating the home side could not find a breakthrough until deep into five minutes of stoppage time.

Wolves defended bravely and overcame the sending off of captain Karl Henry for a late challenge on Tomas Rosicky only to be denied when Bendtner headed in what could prove to be the young Dane's most vital strike yet.

Bendtner also netted a last-gasp strike as the Gunners defeated Hull last month.

The victory keeps Arsenal on the coat tails of Chelsea and Manchester United with five games remaining.

After Chelsea went back to the top of the table with their controversial 2-1 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, Wenger knew there was little margin for error if Arsenal wanted to keep pace as the title race heats up.

Theo Walcott - recalled to the team after his goal against Barcelona - weaved his way into the Wolves box after cutting in from the right, before chipping the ball back across goal where Eduardo forced goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann into a fine, one-handed reaction save.

Wolves defender Michael Mancienne charged forwards and let fly from 25 yards, which was just off target.

Arsenal went close again when Rosicky pulled the ball back through a crowded six-yard box to find Eduardo, but the Croatian could only stab the ball wide as he lost balance.

Walcott then released right-back Bacary Sagna on the overlap into the Wolves penalty area, and his shot was blocked by Hahnemann.

After 15 minutes, the French defender was in again, this time sliding to hook the ball to Emmanuel Eboue, whose attempted backheel hit his trailing leg.

Arsenal continued to press, with Walcott testing Hahnemann with a 20-yard snap-shot after the ball dropped to him from a corner.

Although it continued to be one-way traffic, Wolves remained solid.

Rosicky created some space for himself on the edge of the area, but could only fire his shot high into the stands, while Denilson then drilled a low effort wide and Mikael Silvestre tested the Wolves goalkeeper again.

Arsenal maintained the pressure at the start of the second half as Silvestre flashed a low centre across goal.

Alex Song collected the ball 30 yards out and charged forwards, only to blaze his shot wide.

Walcott continued to be Arsenal's main attacking outlet, but the home side lacked any real presence in the Wolves box.

Eduardo volleyed wide after reacting quickly to a high ball.

As the hour mark approached, Rosicky cut in from the right and fired a low, angled drive goalwards, which Hahnemann was again behind.

There was still a threat from Wolves, though, as winger Matthew Jarvis flashed a couple of dangerous balls into the Arsenal six-yard box.

After 66 minutes, Wolves captain Henry was shown a straight red by referee Andre Marriner for needlessly going through the back of Rosicky, who was facing his own goal in the centre-circle.

The Czech midfielder needed treatment to his calf, but was soon back on the pitch and forced Hahnemann into another good reaction save before Bendtner stretched the American with a looping header.

Rosicky cleared off the line as Sol Campbell deflected the ball towards his own goal following a Wolves corner.

Arsenal sent on Mexican Carlos Vela to try to find a way through.

Walcott stabbed a close-range effort wide during five minutes of stoppage time.

Then, just when it seemed all over, Sagna whipped the ball into the six-yard box where Bendtner arrived to bullet a header past Hahnemann as the Emirates Stadium erupted.

UEFA Champions League Quarter-Finals 1st Leg: Arsenal 2-2 Barcelona

Arsenal superbly came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Barcelona in their Champions League quarter-final first leg at Emirates Stadium

It was billed as a clash between the world's two best footballing sides, but for the best part of 70 minutes it looked like the biggest mis-match of the season.

Barca were rampant from the first whistle and only a combination of superb goalkeeping, good luck and bad finishing prevented Arsenal from going into the interval a hatful of goals down.

Unfortunately their luck did not last long into the second half and once Zlatan Ibrahimovic put the Catalans ahead within 30 seconds and then added a second just before the hour mark, it looked like the tie was over.

However, Theo Walcott came off the bench to give Arsenal a foothold in the game in the 69th minute and Carlos Puyol gave away a penalty that Cesc Fabregas converted with five minutes remaining as Arsene Wenger's men completed a remarkable fightback.

Fabregas will miss the return leg after picking up an earlier booking but Arsenal will take plenty of heart from a final 20 minutes that lived up to all expectations.

Fabregas had given the Gunners a boost when he passed a fitness test shortly before kick-off but the good feeling did not last long around the Emirates as Barca instantly slipped into top gear.

Manuel Almunia saved at full-stretch from Sergio Busquet and then low to block a Lionel Messi effort, and Ibrahimovic put over when it was easier to score soon after, although he was offside anyway.

That was all inside the first 10 minutes and the onslaught didn't end there, with Messi firing over and Almunia producing a wonderful double save to deny Ibrahimovic from point-blank range and then Xavi from the follow-up. Alex Song then popped up to clear Messi's effort off the line as the Gunners somehow escaped.

Samir Nasri curled an effort just wide as the hosts finally woke up and Nicklas Bendtner really should have scored when hitting at Victor Valdes and then the post after being picked out in the box. An offside flag spared the striker's blushes.

Injuries to Andrey Arshavin and William Gallas - they were replaced by Emmanuel Eboue and Denilson - heaped more misery on Arsenal before half-time but the biggest blow came when Fabregas picked up a booking that rules him out of the second leg.

If that wasn't bad enough then what happened within 30 seconds of the restart most certainly was. Gerard Pique's long ball down the right caught the home defence off guard but Ibrahimovic was quickly alive to it, racing into the box and then lobbing Almunia after he decided, clearly quite wrongly, to race out of his box in pursuit of the ball.

Bendtner and Xavi exchanged headed chances from which both should have scored before Ibrahimovic did add a second in the 59th minute. The Gunners were caught out by another ball over the defence and Ibrahimovic again capitalised to fire a sweet effort into the top right corner.

It looked like it was game and tie over there and then but Wenger had a final throw of the dice with 24 minutes remaining when he threw on Walcott for Bacary Sagna.

And it proved to be an inspired change as the England winger got onto Bendtner's pass squeezed a shot under Valdes just three minutes after coming on.

Thierry Henry replaced Ibrahimovic with 14 minutes remaining but it was to be a current Arsenal hero that had the last say in the game.

Fabregas was just about to pull the trigger in the box when Puyol brought him down and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and sending the Barca defender off.

Fabregas stepped up himself to fire straight down the middle and, although he injured himself in the process, scoring the goal that gives Arsenal a great chance in Spain will ease the midfielder's disappointment at missing the return.
