Gilberto Silva urges Melo to join Arsenal.

Former Arsenal captain Gilberto Silva has urged Brazil team-mate Felipe Melo
to join the Gunners.

Arsene Wenger's side are reportedly interested in acquiring the accomplished holding midfielder from Serie A side Fiorentina. And Gilberto, who played for Arsenal
until leaving for Panathinaikos last summer, believes Melo and Arsenal would be a perfect match.

“We heard rumours and he asked me,” Gilberto said. “I said it's a fantastic club and if he's interested he should go without thinking. He is exactly what they need — a powerful player with quality. If they got him it would be great because he is a player they need at the moment.
I'm sure if they got him it would be a good signing. I have told him Arsenal is a great club and I am sure next season they will improve.”

Stuttgart Star Serdar Tasci Flattered By Arsenal Interest.

The young stopper is pleased that the Gunners are interested in him, but he hasn't ruled out staying at VfB.

Serdar Tasci Arsenal target Serdar Tasci has expressed his happiness at English club's reported interest in him, while stressing that he remains happy at Stuttgart.
Recent reports have identified Tasci, who was also being chased by AC Milan and Juventus, as one of Arsene Wenger's main targets. Speaking to German website Spox.com, Tasci said, "I have to admit I'm flattered that clubs like Arsenal, AC Milan and Juventus have had their eye on me in the past.
"But I'm not getting carried away with this. I'm focused on Stuttgart and looking to return to action following my knee injury. I have the ambition to move clubs one day, but the time and circumstances have to be right for me."Tasci then talked about his excitement at playing in the Champions League next season, even contemplating a clash with Arsenal themselves.
"I'd love to play in the Champions League this season," he said."We'll have to show up in qualifying of course, but I don't mind who we play. We want to advance to the group stages."We might be paired with Arsenal, but we can beat them as well.
"Stuttgart are keen to hold on to the player, but they are afraid of losing him for nothing when his contract expires next summer, so they could be tempted by a large bid if Tasci does not sign a contract extension.

Real Madrid in trouble: Wenger.

Tuesday, 30 June 2009

Arsene Wenger has warned Real Madrid that their big money exploits could end in tears.
Real Madrid's returning president Florentino Perez is flashing his chequebook around like confetti but the Arsenal boss is unimpressed.

After splashing out nearly £150 million on Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka, Real Madrid have spent a reported €15 million to sign Raul Albiol from Valencia.

“Real Madrid lean towards football-spectacle, but there is another dimension: the success of building a team with a style, a know-how, a club's own game culture, of youngsters,” he said.

“That is what I have chosen. I am in a project of a construction of a young team. I want to stay until the end.

“I enjoy watching my team play the football that I love.”

The French tactician has also warned Real that a summer of hefty spending may produce an undesired effect.

“Signing more than three players is to take a technical risk. We enter an area of incertitude.”

Arsenal’s French connection may influence Benzema.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is putting faith in the French connection of his club to influence Lyon’s Karim Benzema to move to London.

The 21-year old is highly sought after with Manchester United making a heavy play for him and more recently Real Madrid emerging with a £27 million bid but Wenger hopes the number of French players at the Emirates Stadium may lure Benzema.

The Gunners final moves for Benzema will depend on whether or not they sell striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Carnivorous Robots Eat Meat For Power.

That's right folks, robots that consume organic matter to power themselves.
This particular model is a flytrap that digests insects to power a clock.

UK-based designers James Auger and Jimmy Loizeau believe that, if robots are ever to be welcomed into people's homes, they'll need to fit in with the rest of the furniture, and earn their keep. Their prototypes trap and digest pests like flies and mice to gain energy.

Clever: NES Controller Wireless Doorbell.

Some guy went and stuffed a wireless doorbell into an old NES controller. That is all.
SPOILER ALERT: it goes ding-dong.

Mmmm, Chocolatey: The S'Mores Keyboard.

This is probably the most delicious keyboard I've ever seen because I haven't seen an ice cream one yet. Unfortunately, like a harmless robot, it doesn't actually exist.

MUTANT!: Motorcycle Sidecar Is Actual Car.

Francois Knorreck spent ten years and $20,000 to create this "Snaefell", a motorcycle with a sidecar made from an actual car. It looks pretty damn sleek.

Gunners star rubbishes Manchester United link.

Robin van Persie insists his long-term future is at Arsenal Football Club.Te Dutch forward had been linked with a shock move to Manchester United earlier this summer, but he insists his future remains at the Emirates Stadium.
"I'm not in negotiations with any other club - just Arsenal," van Persie told the News of the World. "I want to become the best player in the world. “My career will only be a success when I consider myself the best. Anything less won't do. I see the potential at Arsenal.
We have to do it."One fact which aggravates me is that in the five years I've been at Arsenal, we've won exactly the same number of trophies as I did at Feyenoord - ONE - that's not enough.
“When I arrived here, Arsenal were winning trophies for fun. But, if everyone is fit, we have a heck of a team and it's up to me to ensure we go out and win these trophies."

Arsenal closing in on Tasci.

Tasci (left) fights for the ball with Theo Walcott.

Arsenal are set to make a move for Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci as Arsene Wenger looks to strengthen his back four once again. Wenger is ready to splash the cash after forking out £10m to sign Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax last week and wants more reinforcements at the back.

Tasci, 22, is regarded as one of the best young defenders in Germany and has also been tracked by AC Milan and Juventus after he earned rave reviews last season which saw him force his way into the Germany side.

The Arsenal boss is believed to be a big fan of Tasci who can play in the centre of defence or at right back and the German admits he would relish the chance to play for a bigger club in Europe, saying: "I have the ambition to move clubs one day, but the time and circumstances have to be right for me.

Stuttgart are currently in talks with Tasci to extend his contract, but cannot agree a deal which leaves the door open for Arsenal to clinch his signature.

DIY: Guy Is Building Himself A Lamborghini.

33-year old Canadian Woody "Wood" Sticksandbranches is making himself a Lamborghini.
The vehicle is built on top of a $60 Pontiac Fiero chassis and promises to be one hell of a good looking ride. Nice work Loggy, I can't wait to see the finished product.
Maybe you could take me for a spin sometime. But no funny business -- I don't care if you do drive a Lamborghini look-alike. Just kidding, I'm cool with a little hand action.

Paint Drip Table Is Neat, Drippy, Trippy.

This is a table from designer John Nouanesing. It's called Paint or die but Love Me. If you can't tell because pictures don't work on your fancy electronic typewriter or something, the table looks like it's made of dripping paint. Neat idea, John. You designed a table and made the drips as legs.

Designed for experienced builders, the LEGO Taj Mahal model features advanced building techniques, rare elements and colors, and realistic details of architecture.

The Sonic Bomb alarm clock is powerful enough to raise the dead. Why? For one, it comes with a 113dB alarm (louder than a jackhammer). But if that's not enough to wake you from your beauty rest, it also flashes a bedside lamp on and off and has a 12-volt bed vibrator. Awake yet? The bomb sells for $43 and is guaranteed to make you frightened to fall asleep.

It Buuuuuurns!: India To Make Chili Grenades.

India's Defense Research and Development Organization has plans to start manufacturing hot chili grenades. Hot chili grenades are exactly what they sound like: hot. chili. grenades.
Indian defence scientists are planning to put one of the world's hottest chilli powders into hand grenades.

They say the devices will be used to control rioters and in counter-insurgency operations.
The chilli, known as Bhut Jolokia, is said to be 1,000 times hotter than commonly used kitchen chilli.

What you're looking at is the most expensive toy in Japan, costing around $41,468. The Gundam Fixed Platinum was created by Bandai Co. and is a miniature of the Gundam robot from the anime series. The thing weighs 45 oz, stands 5 inches tall, and is made from pure platinum. Melted down at today's prices makes this thing worth $41,468.

Ooooh, He's Light Up: Gundam At Night.

Thought the Japanese Gundam statue looked good during the day? Well check it out at night! The statue is chock-full of blinky blinks and other lighting effects to help assure the citizens of Japan they're safe from attack. Unless it's an inside job. *ahem* I'm looking at you, RX-78.

Arsenal To Make January Raid For Brazilian Prodigy Detinho.

Arsenal are planning a January raid for Brazilian teenager Detinho at Brazilian giants Corinthians, with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger keen to add another talented youngster to his squad at the Emirates Stadium, according to reports in Spain.

19-year-old Detinho made his senior debut for the Todo Poderoso in 2007, with the young striker scoring 8 goals in 32 appearances so far during his time at the Estadio Parque Sao Jorge.

Greek side Olympiacos have also been linked with Detinho, but North London seems to be the most likely destination after the young prodigy turned down a big money deal to join Saudi Arabian team Al Hilal recently.

Arsenal willing to let striker leave for Milan.

Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor looks destined for Milan after it was revealed that the North London club were preparing to offering him to both AC and Inter.

The Togo international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Emirates for quite some time after the player's representative admitted he didn't know where Adebayor would be playing next season.

Adebayor, 25, has come in for some stick from sections of the Arsenal faithful over the past few months for his below average performances.

The former Monaco man scored just 16 goals in all competitions last season, not a bad total for an average striker, however compare that to the 30 he scored the previous season and you can see why the Arsenal fans aren't happy.

There has been talk that a £25 million bid made by any non-Premier League club will see Adebayor on his way out of Arsenal. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is willing to let Adebayor leave the club, however he is unwilling to let him join Chelsea who have been tipped to make a move for him.Personally, I think a move to AC is nailed on.

AC clearly have money to spend after Kaka departed for Madrid earlier this month for a fee of nearly £60 million, so if they really want Adebayor then they will get him.

It will be interesting to see if any more clubs from Europe show an interest in Adebayor in the coming weeks because there is no doubt that on his day he is one of the best in Europe.

Arsenal move a step closer to signing Melo.

Arsenal target Felipe Melo is on the verge of leaving Fiorentina, according to his team-mate Alberto Gilardino. Arsene Wenger wants to add some steel to his midfield and has earmarked the Brazilianas the man to help his Premier League title bid next season.
Melo, 25, has started every game of Brazil's Confederation Cup campaign and a £15million bid from Arsenal is in the pipeline. Fiorentina striker Gilardino expects Melo to leave Italy this summer, paving the way for a move to the Emirates. "I have not spoken with Melo directly. He played well against Italy (during Brazil's 3-0 win) and he is an excellent player, but I have the feeling he will be sold," Gilardino said.
