EPL: Arsenal vs Reading 4-1

Arsenal kept up their pursuit of a top-four finish with a comfortable 4-1 win over Reading at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

 

Santi Cazorla inspired the home side to an utterly dominant first-half display, though they only had Gervinho’s early strike to show for it.The Spaniard struck a sweet second himself just after the restart.

 

Olivier Giroud and Mikel Arteta’s penalty completed the scoring. Inbetween those last two goals, Hal Robson-Kanu nodded home but, in truth, Reading were well beaten this afternoon.

Nacho Monreal and Gervinho struck late as Arsenal grabbed a crucial victory at Swansea on Saturday.

 

With 16 minutes left, the Spaniard divided a tight game with his first strike since joining the Club in January.

 

Then Gervinho secured all three points when he converted a pass from Aaron Ramsey in injury time.

 

Perhaps Arsène Wenger’s side were not quite at their fluent best this afternoon, but pre-match, the Frenchman had described this game as “win-at-all-costs”.
