EPL: Newcastle United vs Arsenal 0-1

13/14: West Ham 1-3 Arsenal - Olivier Giroud

Arsenal will start 2014 on top of the Premier League after grinding out a well-deserved 1-0 win at Newcastle on Sunday.

The crucial goal came midway through the second half when Olivier Giroud guided home a header from Theo Walcott’s free-kick.

EPL: West Ham United vs Arsenal 1-3

13/14: West Ham 1-3 Arenal - Theo Walcott

Arsenal went back to the top of the Premier League table with a 3-1 comeback win at West Ham on Boxing Day.

Arsène Wenger’s side missed a host of chances in the first half and were made to pay 53 seconds after the restart when Carlton Cole fired home.

200,000-Piece LEGO Rivendell (Built By The Same Lady Who Brought Us That Massive LEGO Hogwarts)

lego-lotr-rivendell.jpg

This is the 5-foot x 10-foot, 200,000 piece Middle Earth LEGO Rivendell built by Alice Finch (of 400,000-piece LEGO Hogwarts fame) and David Frank. I wish I could just shrink myself down to that size and live there. Of course, I said the same thing about my little sister's Barbie Malibu Dreamhouse, so take that with a grain of salt. And a lime wedge. And-- "Are we doing tequila shots?" It's noon, isn't it?

Keep going for a bunch more, but be sure to checkout Alice's Flickr page for more, high-res versions.

Witches: Hand Painted Hogwarts House High Heels

harry-potter-high-heels.jpg

These are the Hogwarts houses high heels hand painted by Redditor Smartypants and worn by her sister-in-law akasha446 and the bridesmaids in her wedding. I'm not sure if the girls were actually sorted into the house of the shoes they wore, but I would have stabbed whoever got the Ravenclaw ones. "That sounds very Slytherin of you." Those are fighting words, Hufflepuff. "I'm a Gryffindor." Ahahahhahhaha, sure you are. "I took an online test." AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Keep going for closeups of each (the bride wore the black ones, the bridesmaids wore the houses).

So, It's Come To This: The iPad Dock Baby Chair

ipad-baby-chair.jpg

This is the $75 Fisher-Price Ipad Apptivity Seat (already in existence: an iPad potty chair). It's a baby chair with an iPad dock that dangles over your little bundle of bad vision. Will it help your child grow up to be a technology professional? No. Will it give them something to look at while they piss and shit their diaper?

Sure. After reading the reviews on Amazon, there are a lot of people up in arms about the product because apparently kids under 2 aren't supposed to be forcibly strapped to a chair with a screen inches from their face. I dunno, something about brainwashing. Whatever happened to decent parenting? When I was growing up my parents would put me out in the yard underneath an overturned laundry basket on wheels with a cinderblock on top.

The yard was fenced so I couldn't get out but I could crawl around to explore all I wanted. I probably hold the world record for the longest time spent pretending to be a turtle.

Thanks to lilco, who agrees kids shouldn't be allowed to play with iPads until they can afford to buy them themselves.

Print-It-Yourself Cool Moving Optical Illusions

optical-illusion-print-outs.gif

This is a video of a bunch of cool moving optical illusions you can print yourself (links to Youtube page with links to all the designs). You just need a clear sheet of transparency paper to print the overlay.

Don't have a piece of transparency paper? Then you are SHIT OUT OF LUCK. And apparently so am I, because the last six lotto scratchers I've scratched have netted me $0. I don't play those little $1 and $2 games either, I do the $20's. "You're an idiot."

Hey, you gotta spend big to win big. "You're an idiot." Call the gambling help hotline for me? My phone got shut off.
Keep going for the video.

Realistic Super Nintendo And Game Boy Cartridge Soaps

nintendo-soaps-1.jpg

Because why would anybody want to release products in time for people to buy them for Christmas presents, Firebox has these life-size 'invigorating energy citrus' scented Super Nintendo and Game Boy cartridge soaps available for pre-order.

Super Nintendo cartridges cost $21 apiece *choking on doughnut* APIECE?! And the Game Boy ones $11. For reference, that is entirely too much to spend on a bar of soap. If I spent that kind of money on novelty soap for the guest bathroom and found out somebody actually used them I would go ballistic.

I don't care if you accidentally touched your @$$hole wiping, that soap cost me $21.
Keep going for a bunch of individual soap closeups.

Going In Circles: Insane Ball-Moving LEGO Machine

lego-ball-moving-machine.jpg

This is the incredible ball-moving machine built by Kawaguchi Akiyuki. Each section is an individual module (often designed by other ball-moving aficionados) that moves the little balls along the track in different ways. There are elevators, escalators, jigglers, jugglers, corkscrews, robotic hands -- you name it. "Tractor beams?" There were no tractor beams. "Teleporters?"

Okay I'm starting to think maybe you came in here with expectations a little too high.

Keep going for the incredible inedible machine (although I would still put a couple of those little balls in my mouth).

I Choose You, LASER GUNS: Pokemon As LEGO Mechas

pokemon-lego-mechas-1.jpg

This is Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise imagined as LEGO mechas controlled by minifigs hidden inside (pictures after the jump) by Flickr user Stormbringer. Good job. Way better than I could have done.

I'm only good at three things: bad writing and even worse counting.

Keep going for individual shots of each including their minifig operators.

EPL: Arsenal vs Chelsea 0-0

Aaron Ramsey

Arsenal reached the crucial milestone of Christmas level on points with leaders Liverpool after a goalless draw against Chelsea at Emirates Stadium on Monday night.

Arsène Wenger’s side needed a positive response after their 6-3 defeat at Manchester City last time out and they will be satisfied enough with a thoroughly-deserved point.

I Must Have One: A Reading Net For Your At-Home Library

library-nets-1.jpg

This is the Reading Net designed by Spanish creative studio Playoffice. Of course I'm not sure how much credit Playoffice actually deserves. It's not like they invented nets, they just came up with the idea of hanging them in home libraries to give your kids a place to hang out and read the herpes-free books you've collected over the years.
[The Reading Net is] a meshed fabric suspended from the architecture of a family library, that acts as a second-level reading range. the hanging web is tautly attached to the railings of a lofted path, and -- as both children and adults climb onto the woven expanse -- they can both lounge and learn on the buoyant surface.
First of all, that home library in the pictures is ridiculous. Somebody is rich as shit. Secondly, forget about JUST the library -- I want nets in every room of the house. I want to be able to go for days or weeks without ever touching the ground. "What about when you need to go to the bathroom?" I'll do it like a little kid. "Which is?" In the bathtub.

Keep going for a bunch more shots in case you like getting angry at rich kids for having way cooler stuff than you did growing up.

I'm Flying, Jack!: Decepticon Starscream Hoodie w/ Wings

starscream-hoodie.jpg

Starscream, everybody's third favorite Transformer, is now available in hoodie form from 80'sTees. The moderately priced $60 hoodie even creates a pair of wings when you raise your arms. Rumor has it if you jump off something three stories or higher you can actually fly! "You will die." I only said it was a rumor, not a fact.

Running With The Bad Guys: Nike's 'Megatron Rises' Transformer Themed Training Sneakers

megatron-shoes-1.jpg

Because everybody wishes they were a Transformer so they could transform into a much cooler version of themselves with bazookas for arms, Nike has just announced this 'Megatron Rises' line of sneakers. They come in three varieties (including an actual cleated version for those of you who have no shame wearing cleats to your fantasy football league), all with purple Megatron styling.

Personally, I've never really been that into fancy sneakers. Shoes are just so easy to get dirty and I am a filthy person. My shoes could get dirty just sitting in my apartment. Just think about that for a minute. Then feel bad and hire a maid. Or a hitman -- either way, problems will get solved.

Keep going for closeups plus the others.

Half Want: This Dr. Venkman Ghostbusters Jacket

venkman-ghostbusters-jacket.jpg

Peter Venkman: he's everybody's favorite Ghostbuster. And now you can pretend to BE him with this Venkman Ghostbusters Jacket available from SuperheroStuff ($70). We can all get one then run around pretending to bust ghosts! Don't cross the streams, LOLOL. We're having a great time, aren't we? "I want to go home.

My Basement Demands It: Superhero Logo Neon Signs

superhero-logo-neon-signs-1.jpg

This is a small series of superhero logos reimagined as neon signs by DeviantARTist 3ftdeep (which, for the record, is way too shallow to bury a body). They're not real. I don't see any reason why they couldn't be made real, but these are just renderings. My feelings for you? Those are real. "They are? Tell me how you feel!" I'd rather show you. "Wait, where'd you get the knife?"

Keep going for Batman and Superman.

EPL: Arsenal vs Hull City FC: 2-0

Nicklas Bendtner

Irresistible Arsenal maintained their four-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a sublime 2-0 victory over Hull City on Wednesday night.

Nicklas Bendtner finished a silky smooth move to put Arsène Wenger’s men ahead after only two minutes. It was the Dane’s first Arsenal goal since his hat-trick against Leyton Orient in March 2011.

Babe Of The Month 12/2013: Holiday Grainger

Holliday Clark Grainger (also credited as Hollie Grainger; born 27 March 1988) is an English screen and stage actress. Some of her prominent roles include Lucrezia Borgia in the Showtime series The Borgias and Estella in Mike Newell's adaptation Great Expectations. In May 2010, Grainger was named one of the 55 faces of the future in Nylon magazine's Young Hollywood Issue.

BPL: Cardiff City vs Arsenal 0-3

13/14: Cardiff 0-3 Arsenal - Aaron Ramsey

Arsenal moved seven points clear at the top of the Premier League after securing a comprehensive 3-0 win at Cardiff City on Saturday.

Aaron Ramsey scored the all-important first goal against his home-town club in the 29th minute. The Welshman showed excellent technique to steer home a header from Mesut Ozil’s excellent cross.

UCL: Arsenal vs Marseille: 2-0

13/14: Arsenal 2-0 Marseille - Jack Wilshere

Jack Wilshere grabbed the first two-goal haul of his career as Arsenal inched towards qualification from Champions League Group F on Tuesday night.

The Englishman curled in his first after 30 seconds and prodded home another midway through the second half as Arsène Wenger’s men easily saw off a Marseille side who have struggled to find their feet in this competition this season.
