Nintendo Game Music And Sound Effects Played In Real Time By Player Piano And Robotic Percussionist

robotic-nintendo-sound.jpg

This is a video of a player piano and two robotic percussionists that can produce the music and sound effects for Nintendo games as the games are being played. It makes all the games sound like they're being played in a wild west style saloon. *moseys up to bar* Howdy partner -- I'll take a whiskey. *tries to spit in spittoon, drools on leg* WHY CAN I NEVER COWBOY?
This system allows for Nintendo gameplay audio to be played through an acoustic player piano and robotically controlled percussive instruments. The piano and percussion play live during actual gameplay, mirroring the sounds that would normally be created electronically. All audio, including music and sound effects, is translated in realtime so that it is produced by the instrument most closely resembling the characteristics of the original electronic sound.
Anyway, back to being a cowboy. I always wanted to grow up to be one when I was a kid. Everyone was always, "Aww, that's cute," but nobody had the decency to tell me the kind of cowboy I wanted to be doesn't really exist anymore. So you can imagine my surprise when there weren't any gunslinging or how to lasso outlaws from horseback courses in college. *eying dusty cowboy boots and hat in corner* Life isn't fair.
